The path to a sustainable future through innovation

The Renewable Energy Sources Scientific and Production Center (SPC) of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (SEIT) has created a Unified Digital Database for Assessing Solar and Wind Resources, on the basis of which the Internet Portal of Renewable Energy Resources has been developed, the database of which is currently being updated. The Internet Portal of Renewable Energy Sources includes advanced methods for determining the potential of solar and wind energy in the regions of the country using a digital system.
Considering that the accurate determination of the energy potential of a region, taking into account the specifics of the environment, is an important issue for the effectiveness of technical and economic indicators when designing photovoltaic solar and wind power plants of various capacities, a significant solution is proposed to use a digital system for processing information on renewable energy sources in the region with high accuracy.
Considering the large investments required to implement the project, a single information center for the digital system for assessing solar and wind energy resources was created, on its basis an improved method for increasing the reliability of the system was developed through the use of the digital system for accurately determining the location of photovoltaic solar and wind power plants in the regions of the country and assessing solar and wind energy resources in the region. Based on the active use of data from the single information portal, an assessment of the potential of solar and wind energy resources at the target point of the project was carried out, the parameters and operational capabilities of photovoltaic solar and wind power plants were determined, and an assessment of the solar and wind potential of all regions of the country was carried out using a digital system.
Based on the data collected on the Internet portal, calculations were made for solar power plants of various capacities to supply electricity to populated areas. With the help of the digital system, the most suitable locations for installing wind turbines for the construction of wind power plants in the regions of the country were determined, and currently, work has been established on a scientific basis to assess the wind energy resources of the relevant areas.
Currently, the construction of large facilities based on renewable energy sources in our country is in the final stage. An example is the ongoing construction of a multifunctional solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW, which will provide electricity to a new modern village being built in the area of Turkmen Lake Altyn Asyr. It should be noted that technical conditions have been developed for the first stage of the construction of solar power plants of various capacities to provide electricity to border units and settlements located in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the country. In accordance with the technical agreement, with the joint participation of specialists from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Renewable Energy Sources Scientific and Production Center, the conditions of these territories have been studied, and scientific research and measurements have been carried out to assess solar energy resources. In addition, in order to study the possibilities of installing wind power plants in a number of regions of our country, wind towers are being installed, and calculation and measurement work is being carried out in the Balkan, Mary and Lebap velayats.
The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan is also implementing a number of pilot projects jointly with international organizations. One of these pilot projects is the Project “Drainage Water Treatment Using Microalgae and Solar-Powered Water Pumping System”, being implemented at the Renewable Energy Sources Scientific and Production Center of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan within the framework of the project “Green Development of Turkmenistan: European Union: Policy Dialogue and Action on Climate Change for 2024–2028”, implemented on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The successful implementation of the pilot project can become a powerful impetus for the wider introduction of similar wastewater treatment technologies in other regions of the country. In addition, the development of water treatment technologies, using microalgae and solar energy, will open up new export opportunities for Turkmenistan and will allow disseminating advanced experience and green technologies in the Central Asian region and other countries.

Source of energy for a bright future
In the era of rapid development of modern science and technology, humanity faces important environmental problems. Such problems as global warming, air pollution and shortage of natural resources force the world community to look for new energy sources. In this situation, green energy, that is, renewable energy obtained from natural sources, comes to the fore.

Oil and gas industry is the engine of progress in Turkmenistan
Cooperation in the gas industry is one of the priority areas on the agenda of international meetings of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
