The President of Turkmenistan attends the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia
On October 15, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Azerbaijan on a working visit to participate in another summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), TDH reports.
The CICA serves as a productive platform for multilateral and multifaceted dialogue, covering five key areas: political, economic, environmental and humanitarian cooperation and addressing new challenges.
Leveraging the potential of this forum opens up broad prospects for developing cooperation in sectors such as transport and logistics, sustainable energy, the environment and climate change mitigation. As an observer state to the CICA, Turkmenistan views this platform as an effective instrument for fostering trust-based relations and actively contributes to developing balanced approaches to strengthening an atmosphere of mutual respect across the Eurasian region.
Speaking at the summit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan regards the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia as an important international platform intended to promoting peace, security, mutual trust and sustainable development on the continent.
The President noted that strengthening economic connectivity, expanding mutually beneficial trade and establishing reliable transport and logistics chains are essential factors for secure and sustainable development. In the context of a shifting global economy, the diversification of transport routes, the development of multimodal transportation and the removal of infrastructural and procedural barriers that hinder regional cooperation are of particular significance.
Overall, Turkmenistan advocates for making fuller use of the potential of transport corridors along the East–West and North–South routes, expanding international cooperation in the logistics sector and simplifying trade procedures, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.
The President suggested that it would be expedient to develop a dialogue on transport issues at the ministerial level within the framework of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). This would facilitate the exchange of national experience, the identification of existing obstacles and the development of practical recommendations for the benefit of all interested states.
In his speech, the Head of Turkmenistan also put forward new initiatives regarding the use of artificial intelligence, environmental cooperation and youth diplomacy.
The Head of State’s working visit to Azerbaijan continues.
